Class Description

6 months - 18 months: Parents learn water safety, holds and towing techniques that encourage basic kicking/pulling and water independence for children.

19 months - 36 months: Toddlers are introduced to submerging, kicking and pulling combinations, floating and swimming without flotation.

Requirements to join level

Must be:

  • Ages 6 months - 3 years old
  • Adult participation required

*Swim diapers must be worn for children who are not potty trained*

Learning Objectives
  1. Balance holds on front and back 
  2. Climb out with assistance
  3. Front and back floats with assistance
  4. Horizontal submersion with and without support
  5. Independent play using water toys
  6. Pour water over head & blowing bubbles
  7. Readiness songs
  8. Self submersion with cueing
  9. Slide or jump into water, then look for the wall
  10. Vertical submersion with and without support
Safety Skill: Ask permission to enter the water
Exit Skill: Parent and child are comfortable in the water, Be able to sit independently without parent or guardian in the water, Listen and follow directions, Age 2.5 years old or older
