Class Description
This level is the starting point for swimmers to become familiar with the water. This is geared towards swimmers who are not comfortable putting their face in the water.
Requirements to join level
Must be able to:
- Sit independently without parent or guardian in the water
- Listen and follow directions
Focus: Submersion and Air Recovery
Learning Objectives
- Ask permission to get in the water
- Enter and exit the pool using the stairs
- Change direction while walking in chest deep water
- Pour water over head and get face wet
- Blow bubbles using mouth
- Crab walk 5 yards
- Know how to climb out without using stairs
- Maintain front & back float position with support
- Roll over from front to back and from back to front with support
- Jump from side of pool with assistance
- Alternating arm and kicking action with support
- Travel 3 yards kicking with support from a noodle
Safety Skill: Always ask permission before getting into the water.
Exit Skill: Enter water from stairs, front float, recover to standing, float on back, recover to standing position, exit water utilizing stairs.

Class Description
This level is for swimmers who are comfortable going underwate, learned the fundamentals of swimming. These swimmers are able to swim 5 feet independently and back float for 10 seconds.
Requirements to join level
Must be able to:
- Sit independently without parent or guardian in the water
- Listen and follow directions
- Willing to put their face in the water on command and blow bubbles
- Swim independently with the noodle
Focus: Forward Movement and Direction Change
Learning Objectives
- Ask permission to get in the water
- Bob 5 times exchanging air
- Flutter kick on front and back for 15 yards
- Front streamline without assistance
- Back Streamline without assistance
- Roll over from front to back and from back to front without assistance
- Side Glide on both sides with support
- Maintain front & back float position with support
- Elementary backstroke for 15 feet
- Freestyle arm movement with flutter kick for 5 yards
- Enter water by jumping from the side of the pool and returning to the wall
- Tread water for 10 seconds
Safety Skill:Put on a lifejacket
Exit Skill: Jump from side of the pool, swim freestyle 15 feet, tread water for 10 seconds, elementary backstroke back to the side of the pool

Class Description
This level is for swimmers who are able to swim 15 feet independently but are working on swimming in water over their head.
Requirements to join level
Must be able to:
- Swim with their face in the water blowing bubbles
- Swim independently front 15 feet
- Back float independently for 10 seconds
Focus: Stroke Development and Rotary Movement
Learning Objectives
- Bob 10 times exchanging air
- Side glide to back float, rest and breathe
- Side glide, one overarm pull, roll to back to rest and breathe
- Side glide to streamline to side glide (same side)
- Front and back streamline with kick, then roll to side glide to rest and breathe
- Side glide to back float, rest and breathe
- Backstroke with Straight Arm Rcovery
- Backstroke with little finger first entry
- Backstroke with good body roll and arm extension
- Flutter kick on front and back for 25 yards
- Dive from a kneeling position
- Tread water for 30 seconds
