Class Description

This level is for swimmers who are comfortable going underwater, learned the fundamentals of swimming. These swimmers are able to swim 5 feet independently and back float for 10 seconds.

Requirements to join level

Must be able to:

  • Sit independently without parent or guardian in the water
  • Listen and follow directions
  • Willing to put their face in the water on command and blow bubbles
  • Swim independently with the noodle
Focus: Forward Movement and Direction Change
Learning Objectives
  1. Ask permission to get in the water
  2. Bob 5 times exchanging air
  3. Flutter kick on front and back with flotation for 12 yards
  4. Front streamline with kick for 6 feet
  5. Back glide (no streamline) with kick for 10 feet
  6. Freestyle Arm/Leg movement for 10 feet
  7. Elementary backstroke for 20 feet
  8. Retrieve an object from depth of three feet
  9. Jump in water over their head and recover on back
  10. Tread water for 15 seconds
  11. Swim then roll on back to rest/ breathe x2
Safety Skill:Put on a lifejacket
Exit skill: Jump into water over head and recover on back, swim, roll, swim x2, tread water for 15 seconds, elementary backstroke 15 feet
